EA has announced a public beta for a new BF2 map referred to as Highway Tampa.

w00t! Even if it sucks, I'll be happy they are recognizing BF2 still deserves attention.

I kind of enjoyed it. I tended flag at the gas station in the middle on it last night and if I hadn't kept running out of ammo, I could have held it most of the map.

I don't believe there is an install for the unranked servers as of yet. It's still in Beta and is being "monitored" by EA right now. Only certain ranked servers even have it.

OK. The map isn't great, but it's a new map. It's entertaining enough for me to play on it every now and again.

I haven't even looked at the map yet, but if it is strictly ground based and no heli's, I'm down with that. Not every map can be a chopper whore's wet dream!
